Every Halloween season, the Marion County Historical Society opens the historic county jail for haunted tours. The 1912 building — once the sheriff’s home, office and jail — sits beside the courthouse in downtown Fairmont, and its old cells set the scene for spooky stories drawn from Marion County history. Docent-led tours of the museum and jail run year-round.
